Yesterday I received the editing notes for Changeling: Dark Moon, and I went through the usual raft of emotions that every author goes through once they realise that their submitted novel is not quite as perfect as they had thought it was. Now don’t get me wrong, I know my books aren’t perfect when they [...]

I read a great post the other day on the Strictly Writing blog: http://strictlywriting.blogspot.com/2009/02/never-ending-quest.html (I hope you don’t mind me linking this, Caro) I think that everything in this post is true and sums up some of the things that I’ve been experiencing lately with this whole ‘getting published thing’. Take it or leave it

I went into a bookstore (part of a large chain) yesterday and saw an author sitting at a table with his little pile of books, ready to sign them for the people that he no doubt hoped were coming along to meet him. He had three empty coffee cups on the table, and had obviously [...]

“How much of you is in the character, Trey?” I stopped and thought about this for a second. I’d read this type of question in interviews with authors before, and had never really paid too much attention to the answer (perhaps I should have – at least a neat and polished answer might have come [...]
